Commonly Asked Questions about the Phoenix cameras

1)  What shutter speeds do the Phoenix cameras support?  The Phoenix cameras can expose in any multiple of horizontal lines from a single horizontal line up to a full frame.

2)  Can the Phoenix cameras integrate exposure longer than a single frame?  At this time, we do not support exposure times greater than a single frame.

3) Is it possible to record a sequence of frames, then play them back using the utility program supplied with the Phoenix?  Yes.

4) Does the Phoenix use a global shutter or a rolling shutter?  The Phoenix can operate in either mode. The global shutter is used when a single frame is captured. The entire frame is exposed for one frame time. This means that moving objects will be blurred unless an external strobe light or a mechanical shutter is used to reduce the exposure time. A rolling shutter will expose a user determined number of consecutive   lines, then as the first line is transferred, another line is added to the set being exposed. This provides a mechanism for electronically controlling the exposure time while exposing each line the same amount as the others.

5) How many Regions of Interest (ROI) can I define simultaneously?   Only a single ROI may be defined at any given time.
